Howdy...!! Welcome to the Dallas Area Tandem Enthusiasts Web Site. We are a group of like-minded people who enjoy riding tandem bicycles for fun and fitness. We were founded in 1990 and are one of the largest tandem clubs in Texas. Our membership includes tandem "teams" and sponsors from across Texas and thirteen other states.
The goal of our club is to HAVE FUN, while promoting bicycle safety, social activities, and interest in the sport of cycling. We are made up of riders of all abilities from beginners to seasoned veterans. Our rides range from 25 to 65+ miles and the pace varies from touring to racing. Most rides include multiple distance options that all begin at the same time and place. So come and join us… there's nothing like riding a bicycle built for two.
For a history of our club, please take a moment to read the "History of DATES" by John McManus.
Team Jenkins (Pat & Charlie) are at it again this year. Last year Pat & Charlie participated in RAAM (Race Across America) as part of a team relay that took them from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland. All the while, they were raising money for Juvenile Diabetes Research. DATES members came through and donated more than $2,000.00. This year, Pat & Charlie are taking on the Race Across the West. This race starts in Oceanside, California and finishes in Durango, Colorado. This time, they are on their own. No team relay. Like last year, they are raising money again for Juvenile Diabetes Research. If you are interested in donating, please click on the following link. DATES Donation Request

April in Paris 2010
The 20th Southwest Tandem Rally
Friday, April 23rd - Sunday, April 25th
Dallas Area Tandem Enthusiasts (DATES) invite tandem riders from around the world to April in Paris, Texas --- where DATES will host the 20th annual Southwest Tandem Rally.
Paris was selected for its historical downtown, cooperative community spirit, and the surrounding smooth roads traversing the north Texas plains. Expect gentle riding over nearly flat terrain abounding in grassland, cattle ranches, and wildflowers.
The rally will feature a short "Ice Cream" ride on Friday afternoon, three distance options for Saturday --- all with lunch included --- and an easy farewell ride Sunday morning. The host hotel will be the Holiday Inn Express with overflow accommodations at the adjacent Comfort Inn. Both hotels are new as of 2009.
Area attractions include the downtown plaza with its J.J. Culbertson fountain commemorating the rebuilding of the downtown after the 1916 fire, numerous antique stores, the restored train depot that played a significant role in the U.S. cotton and cattle industries, and surrounding towns that will lure you to stop, enjoy a treat and explore small-town Texas charm and friendliness. Registration, limited to 75 teams, will open November 15th, 2009. Please visit the http://www.doubledates.com/swtr website for the latest information.
Recommended Web Browsers

It was back in December of 2008 that we moved to a new web hosting service and also a new website. During this time, the feedback has been very positive. With that said, there have been some issues regarding how the web content looks when using Internet Explorer 6. Issues such as accessing the DATES-Line Newsletter using Internet Explorer 6. Anyway, I would like to ask each of you to verify the version of Internet Explorer that you are running. If you are running Internet Explorer 6 and you don't feel comfortable upgrading to Internet Explorer 8, I would like to recommend some alternatives (note that the alternative web browsers can be installed without interfering with Internet Explorer 6).
The web browsers listed above can be downloaded for free. If you have any questions regarding the recommended web browsers or would like assistance on installing one of the web browsers, please send an e-mail to
